Review - Abraham Lincoln, The Vampire Hunter

As usual...my one movie a week time...at least...just to get myself out from thinking too much of work...so i just need something that is so absurd and senseless that i don't have to question about the absurdity of the premise of the movie and just go along with it...this movie had managed to do just that...

I am not going to write the about the movie the way i usually wrote...coz i can't make a joke out of the serious tone of the movie...coz its just too absurd to catch in...but its kinda interesting to have a movie that depicts a historical figure with the overly fantasize mashup of unrealistic adventure...

The movie starts off on the right footing...going thru the evolution of a young boy to become a vampire hunter in his quest to avenge his mother's death by a vampire...okay...this is no ordinary twilight-vampire movie...no silly loving dovey stuffs that gets people blinking their eyes so that they won't fall asleep...it has an interesting premise...that is after you throw away any realistic thoughts about the whole idea of the story...

I rather like the whole tone of the movie...its fast-paced and deprived any moments of checking whether it goes align with the true historical figure depicted...one has to remember that this is a purely fictional fantasy movie adapted from a mashup novel of the same name...owh yeah...its from a novel...a mashup novel...if one doesn't know what mashup is... it is a work of fiction which combines a pre-existing text, often a classic work of fiction, with a certain popular genre such as vampire or zombie narratives...that explains a lot about the whole idea...

The visual style was top notch...the cinematography...it kinda reminds me of those of Tim Burton movies combined with the Wachowski Brothers style...it kinda make it even more interesting...the action sequence especially the train sequence was neatly executed...

Overall...for me the movie was interesting enough to escape boredom...its the kind of movie whether you hate it or like it...there's nothing in between...as for me...knowing that the movie is adapted from a mashup novel...of course its going to be utterly ridiculous and super unrealistic...but one have to just blend in to the visual and the style then you can truly enjoy it...as i do enjoy the movie...
